Where to Place Your Diffuser

Where to Place Your Diffuser

June 30, 2023

You’ve done it! You’ve dived into the world of home fragrance and bought yourself your first diffuser. Now, you could plop it anywhere you see fit, but there is a bit of an art when it comes to placing your diffuser (and we would know!). So, we want to give you some tips and tricks on where to place your diffuser so you can get the most out of it.

The Dos and Don’ts of Where to Place Your Diffuser

Don’t Place Near Fans or Sunlight

You would think placing your diffuser near a fan would be helpful in spreading the fragrance around, but it actually does the opposite. Instead, it causes the oil to quickly evaporate, with the scent disappearing with it.

The same goes with a heat source or direct sunlight. Instead of breathing in the energizing scent of Pacific Surf, you’ll find your living room smells like not much at all. Not to mention, your fragrances will run out more quickly too. So, it’s best to choose another location.

Do: Utilize Power Outlets

Aera diffusers need a power source, so make sure to find a location near an electrical outlet. Not a fan of exposed cords? Here are a few tips and tricks to hide them:

  1. Tuck them behind a side table or nightstand with stick-on clips or zip-ties.

  2. If you need to use an extension cable, hide it in a nice basket or stash it behind a stack of books.

  3. Keep it organized! If you have multiple cords running into the same outlet, keep it tidy with more zip-ties.

  4. Need the cord to reach the other side of a room? Hide it under a nice rug. The rug will add some warmth and coziness to your room, and it’ll keep anyone from tripping on an exposed cord.

Don’t Place Near Doors or Windows

It makes sense that the walls of a room would naturally retain any fragrance molecules in the air. So, when deciding what part of the room to place your diffuser, it’s best if you don’t put it near any doors or windows. If you do, the fragrance will move into the different rooms, or outside, leaving a weak scent, or no scent at all! And no one wants that.

Do: Purchase the Correct Size

Aera diffusers come in two different sizes, one for large rooms like a living room, and one for small rooms, like a bathroom or office.

To experience the full benefit of our fragrances, it’s important to use the correct diffuser based on the size of your room. If you use the Aera Mini in your spacious living room, you may find the scent to be lacking. As well, if you use our large diffuser in your cozy bathroom, you may find the scent to be too overpowering. It’s all about finding the right fit!

Where to Place Diffusers: The Room Guide

Now that we’ve given you some dos and don’ts, let’s talk about which room you’d like to place your diffuser in.

Living Room

This is one of our favorite rooms to place our diffusers, since it’s the space that most people spend the majority of their time in. From relaxing in the evenings, to entertaining friends, a living room is the perfect space to play an Aera fragrance!

Kitchen

Love cooking, but maybe not the leftover smells? And we’re not talking about the ones from your grandmother’s spaghetti sauce recipe. We’re talking about those other kitchen smells – aka, the garbage can, the leftover fish from the other night, or the microwave that’s due for another clean. Our diffusers are perfect for masking those smells!

And, to make things even easier, we have a special fragrance made specifically for kitchen odors called Good Riddance Cooking Odor. It’ll make all those unsavory scents smell like a crisp, aromatic garden.

Bathroom

If you’re looking to transform your bathroom into a serene spa-like oasis, then the Aera Mini diffuser is the perfect fit. Its compact size is ideal for bathrooms, while the technology ensures your space smells fresh and energizing from the moment it starts playing.

Bedroom

Whether you’re taking a nap or settling in for the evening after a long day, diffusers fill your bedroom with a peaceful, relaxing fragrance.

What’s even better, our diffusers can be set on schedules with our app, so you can fall asleep to the soothing scent of Deep Relax, without having to worry about it playing through the entire night while you’re asleep.

And for those asking, ‘Is it okay to sleep next to a diffuser?’ Absolutely! Some scents, like lavender, even encourage deeper sleep for longer periods.

So, now that you’ve decided what room to place your diffuser in, it’s time to choose a scent!
